This article was written by respected cinematographer Robert Humphreys ACS, originally appeared at the Australian Cinematographers Society website. For more information about the show, visit The Strange Calls.
We’ve just launched the website for our new multiplatform comedy series, The Strange Calls starring Barry Crocker and Toby Truslove for ABC TV. This was my first collaboration with Emmy & BAFTA award winning company Hoodlum (who are brilliant) and was commissioned by ABC’S Head of Comedy, Debbie Lee (Wilfred, Angry Boys) (also brilliant). The series includes 6 half-hour episodes, 15 webisodes, and an interactive website. My role on the series was creator, writer and director. I was surrounded by a small army of the most talented, supportive and experienced people and I can’t wait to do it again.
From the set of The Strange Calls for ABC Television with Toby Truslove and Nick Simpson Deeks. I don’t remember being as tired as I look here…
I love this song by my good friend Greg Chiapello. So I asked him to do a performance of it in his room one night. It’s an amazing song by an amazing talent. Greg wrote the theme song for the ABC series, The Strange Calls. I’d love to use this song for a new series I’m writing about Boarding School.
I’m going to start using Tumblr more! Right now, I’m in post-production on the ABC comedy series, The Strange Calls starring Barry Crocker and Toby Truslove. It’s like Mother and Son meets the X Files. I created, wrote and directed the series that includes 6 x 30 minute episodes and 15 x 3 minute webisodes. ABC’s Head of Comedy, Debbie Lee [Wilfred, Angry Boys] and Emmy & BAFTA award winning company Hoodlum are Executive Producers on the new series. It’s been great. Here’s a photo from the set in Coolum Beach.
